Jeff Leatham
By Cathy Rose A. Garcia

It’s not every day that a former U.S. first daughter gets married, so it’s only natural that Chelsea Clinton and Marc Mezvinsky’s wedding in Rhinebeck, N.Y. Saturday grabbed headlines around the world.

Chelsea, the only daughter of former U.S. President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, looked radiant wearing a gorgeous Vera Wang gown as she wed her long-time beau.

The low-key but luxurious wedding ceremony was estimated to have cost between $1 million and $3 million. The flower arrangements by top florist Jeff Leatham alone cost $250,000 (around 292 million won).

Leatham, who signed a contract last year with The Shilla Seoul to oversee its entire wedding floral designs, is also known in Korea for creating the beautiful flower arrangements for star couple Jang Dong-gun and Ko So-young’s wedding on May 2.

For Chelsea’s wedding decorations, Leatham used white and green. He described the theme of the wedding floral arrangement as “organic, clean, simple and elegant.” The bride’s bouquet was a simple but beautiful ball arrangement of white gardenias.

Leatham’s profile in Korea grew after creating a “modern and chic” floral concept for Jang and Ko’s high-profile wedding at The Shilla Seoul.

Last May, The Shilla Seoul was also decorated in a “girly and romantic” design conceptualized by Leatham.

A representative from The Shilla Seoul said Leatham enjoys working with the floral designers and staff at the hotel, and often uses Korean-inspired designs for his work in the U.S.

He will be returning to Seoul in October to unveil new flower decorations for The Shilla’s Dynasty Hall and the newly renovated Yeong Bin Gwan.

Leatham is also currently the artistic director of the Four Seasons Hotel in Paris and has been voted as the best florist in Europe for four consecutive years. He has collaborated with world-famous fashion designers Alexander McQueen, Tom Ford Givenchy and Jean Paul Gautlier, as well as celebrity clients Kylie Minogue, the Dalai Lama and Mick Jagger.

The star florist gained fame for the floral arrangements for the wedding of actress Eva Longoria and NBA star Tony Parker. Leatham was also featured on The Oprah Winfrey show earlier this year.
