Digital Data Communications (DDC), a German-based networking company, said Sunday that it has started operating a ``Wireless Free Zone’’ in the nation’s 37 TOMNTOMS coffee outlets.

In order to provide flexible connection services, DDC has installed a router in each of the outlets, according to the company.

Dubbed ``LevelOne,’’ the device is a multi-functional wireless broadband router that provides shared broadband Internet access to LAN users through its four port switching hub at impressive connection speeds.

``Shoppers can enjoy free Internet services such as portable gaming consoles, PDAs and PMPs through the Wi-Fi support device without registering an additional ISP,’’ DDC said.

``We will maintain a constructive relationship with the coffee seller to increase our brand recognition here,’’ said Lee Chang-hee, DDC’s senior officer.

DDC, which advanced into the South Korean market in 1999, boasts various products ranging from wireless routers for households to switches for small-and medium-sized enterprises.
