GM Daewoo Auto & Technology announced Sunday that it has promoted Yu Ki-joon, 53, a senior executive who has been working at GM Global and North America Engineering, as a senior vice president to take charge of the automaker's production part.
Yu, who replaces Lee Young-kook, the 61-year-old retiring president, will take office from Jan. 1, 2008 after assuming official duties as production chief, according to a GM Daewoo spokesman.
Since entering Daewoo Motor in 1986, Yu has played a key role in such areas as product planning and vehicle tests and served as chief of GM Daewoo's technology and research center from 2000 to 2005.
