(179) Destined to divorce? By Janet ShinThose who live a secure life are also curious about their saju or destiny. They sense their current stability may change sooner or later. It is a telltale fact of our life. We all experience certain warning signs for various reasons. Everybody has their own hurtful wounds to heal. People usually do not know how to handle them initially. They try to ignore, deny and then accept and cure the matter. Unfortunately, the situation doesn’t get better easily, especially when it is destined. Of course, it is not just their fault. It is not easy to prepare for bad days when people are on a roll. They may be curious about saju as a theory but hardly relate it to their real lives. Life, however, is not always smooth sailing. It is like a roller coaster. The uphill must be followed by the downhill. It is just a matter of how drastic the curves are. Ordinary people are usually flustered as they do not know what the whole picture of the problem is like. Saju is able to tell them where they are and when the change will come. A woman requested a saju consultation. She wanted me to read the saju of her husband and herself. She was from a rich family, running a business both in the United States and Korea. She got married to a man whose family also lived in the U.S., even though he and his family are not as affluent as hers. He is a specialist in the mechanic industry. As soon as I plotted the saju, she started to tell me that she did not love her husband. There was no specific reason. She might have felt certain compassion toward another man, but she has never attempted to meet the man in person, nor even hold hands. This sentiment left a vacuum in her heart and she became remorseful about her married life. While reading her saju, she abruptly asked whether she is destined to divorce. ![]() On the first consultation, she did not know her husband’s birth time. Without having the birth pillar, there was no sign of divorce both in the elements of her husband and his wife. Also, the marriage pillars (day pillars) of both were not damaged. However, some symptoms have been surfacing since 2010. Year 2010 was that of the tiger, which clashed with the month branch of the wife. The year 2011 was a rabbit year and it clashed with the day branch of the husband’s. In this year (2012-year of the dragon), there is a clash with her day branch. Each pillar indicates specific stages of life: ● Year pillar: ancestors ● Month pillar: parents ● Day pillar: marriage or spouse ● Time pillar: children In order to understand the situation of one’s married life and or spouse, we must read the day pillar and how it reacts to yearly fortune. I advised that recent three years (2010-2012) are critical for her marriage. However, since their marriage pillars seemed healthy, if they overcome imminent crisis, they were likely to recover a stable married life. ![]() Most people want to hear a yes or no answer. And sometimes they even expect a certain answer. Saju does not always reveal the same answer as they anticipate. Also the answers are vague, from time to time. She turned her back leaving some disappointment for ambiguity. Several days later, she returned with her husband’s birth time. He was born at 7 a.m., which is a rabbit hour (yin wood). According to branch classifications, rabbit clashes with rooster. ![]() Now it became clear that her husband has a damaged marriage pillar, I advised her that divorce is inevitable. And she confessed her husband actually suggested divorce as it is meaningless to continue their married life without love. She blamed herself for not having loved her husband. However, the saju tells us that it wasn’t because of her intention but because of her husband’s destiny. One thing that catches our eyes is that she doesn’t have a spouse’s element, wood, in her saju. Whoever she meets, she may not feel a strong presence. She asked whether she could meet a true love. According to her saju, she has to wait until the wood years or the years that clash with her branches so that some wood inclusions pop out.
