He may have parted from this world, but his knack for style and charity seem to remain in vogue.

Two resident doctors of the Seoul National University Hospital received the Andre Kim Award, a legacy of the late fashion designer, the hospital said Tuesday.

While receiving treatment at the medical center in April 2008, Kim donated 1 billion won, asking that it be used to foster talented young doctors.

He gave an additional 500 million won before passing away in 2010, as well as 50 million won posthumously last December.

The inaugural Andre Kim Award recognized Kim Seon-yeong, a resident of the diagnostics and testing department, and Jeong Jong-won of the neurology section.

Each recipient will be entitled to a study abroad fund up to 10 million won.

“We have decided to annually award second- and third-year residents after evaluating their study abroad proposals, thesis results and work performances,” said the hospital’s president Jung Hee-won in a statement.

“As much as the late designer pursued the value of beauty during his lifetime, his kind intentions will serve as a foundation for future medical experts.”
