The InterContinental Apensia Pyeongchang Resort has brought in Jacob Yi as its new general manager. A Korean-American, Yi obtained a bachelor’s degree in hotel management at the University of Nevada. He developed his career in sales and marketing in Korea at the Westin Chosun Seoul and Millennium Seoul Hilton. Overseas, he was general manager at Pacific Hotel in California and Warwick Hotel Seattle. Since the opening in December 2009, the first five-star hotel in Gangwon Province has built a strong reputation as a top leisure destination along with world-class sports and entertainment attractions in Alpensia, including golf ranges, ski slopes and a water park. Westin Chosun SeoulNinth Gate Grille, Westin Chosun Seoul’s international-style brasserie, holds the Trio of Beef promotion through Oct. 16. The promotion serves a combination of beef cuts from three different countries, so that meat lovers can taste all three different beef parts in a single serve. They are Korean top-grade tenderloin, Australian wagyu rib eye with marbling scores of seven or higher, and U.S. prime-grade sirloin, 80 grams each. The meals are available as set menus. The lunch set includes a mushroom salad with walnut candy and bacon, trio of beef and raspberry dessert at 75,000 won. For the first category, the hotel won it for the second consecutive year. Giving visitors a chance to taste the hotel’s best dishes for a fraction of the normal costs, Pierre Gagnaire a Seoul, Mugunghwa, Momoyama, Toh Lim and Peninsula will provide their signature menus, a glass of red wine and a glass of sparkling wine in special courses at only 80,000 won. Sheraton Grande WalkerhillSheraton Grande Walkerhill has opened the largest parking lot among Korea’s hotels. The new parking building has a capacity for 785 cars on a total of eight floors. A digital parking system allows guests to locate their cars automatically or find the closest empty space.
