Lotte and Shilla, the country’s two largest local hotel chains, are rushing to take advantage of Jeju Island’s designation as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World last Saturday by launching a marketing campaign for special promotional packages.
The two expect the selection, which puts Jeju on par with the Amazon rainforest in Brazil and Halong Bay in Vietnam, among others, will bring more Korean and non-Korean tourists into the southern resort island, further boosting the bottom line of their hotel chains.
Lotte and Shilla hotels have been screaming for joy in recent months as their business is never better now than ever on the back of surging Chinese and other foreign guests.
To get an upper hand in an increasingly-competitive hospitality business surrounding the island, the two hotels are poised to initiate aggressive marketing campaigns and unload a series of attractive travel packages.
Lotte Hotel Jeju has decided to offer a special airtel (airline + hotel) package called ``New Seven Wonders Airtel Package’’ for those who travel through famous tourists spots on the island while staying in a luxury hotel room.
From Nov. 20 through Dec. 23, it will sell this comprehensive travelers’ package, which includes a two-night stay in Lotte’s superior room with a view of an exotic garden, breakfast for two, round-trip flights by Asiana Airlines, bunker adjustment factor and traveler insurance, Olle trail walking program guided by leisure professionals.
It will be priced at 400,000 won, inclusive of value added tax and service charge, for one adult. This two-night-three-day package requires a minimum two-person and a maximum four-person stay. Package guests who want to appreciate the beauties of Jeju Island can use the hotel’s private beach lounge free of charge.
They are also invited to take advantage of its outdoor camping zone, which opened in August. The place is a perfect venue for barbecue lovers as it is equipped with every possible required item such as pots, pans, portable tables, chairs and most importantly barbeques.
They can choose among three trailers, three cabins and five tents for prices ranging from 70,000 to 100,000 won per person, which includes barbeque food choices such as sausages, seafood, beef and lobster
``In celebration of Jeju’s selection as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, we decided to offer travelers who want to come and see what the island is all about at affordable prices. This special package allows visitors to make a single reservation for everything they need while on Jeju,’’ a hotel spokesman said.
He said the package is the beginning of the hotel’s marketing campaign, adding there will be a series of other promotional packages and programs to attract more guests in the future.

To share its joy with customers following Jeju’s designation as one of the world’s top seven nature spots, Shilla Hotel Jeju will offer the ``Shilla Package’’ from Dec. 1 through Jan. 31, 2012.
Those who stay at the hotel on the package, which includes breakfast for two, will be provided with seven special gifts; a bottle of local wine, Olle trail pass for two, winery coupons for two, environment-friendly skincare set, teddy bear, luxury bath towel, and hand-made chocolate. It is priced at 400,000 won for two guests, exclusive of value-added-tax and service charge.
The hotel has also been implementing a seven-day promotion from Nov. 12 to 18, called ``Catch Lucky 7.’’ Those who check in seventh and 77th will get a room upgrade to a suite every day. At its Korean and Japanese restaurants, seventh and 77th guests will be provided with a glass of fresh fruit juice and a bottle of wine free of charge.

``In celebration, we plan to offer limited special menus for our guests at affordable prices. We will also soon present a comprehensive package, including flight tickets and other items necessary for family travelers. We think the Jeju’s selection will provide a boost to our hotel and other hospitality-related businesses on the island,’’ a hotel spokeswoman said.
