Actor Kwon Sang-woo Wednesday posted a hand-written message on his fan website, apologizing for his hit-and-run accident last month.
"First and foremost, I am sorry that my recent actions have worried my fans. For the past month, I've stayed at home reflecting back on my actions," the 34-year-old said.
"I will do my best to restore the public's trust by acting more maturely."
Last month, Kwon drove into a parked car and a police vehicle and ran away. He has been summarily indicted with a fine of 5 million won.
The police officers involved in the accident face disciplinary actions for their failure to determine whether the actor was driving under the influence of alcohol.
Kwon is set to appear in soap opera 'Dae Mul,' slated to air in October.
권상우, 뺑소니`친필편지`로 사과
배우 권상우가 뺑소니 사고와 관련해 친필 편지로 사과의 뜻을 전했다.
권상우는 21일 오후 자신의 팬클럽 `천상우상` 홈페이지를 통해 직접 쓴 사과 편지로 반성의 뜻을 나타냈다. 지난 달 12일 뺑소니 사건으로 물의를 빚은 후 한 달여만이다.
권상우는 이 편지에서 "저를 누구보다도 아껴주시는 팬 여러분들에게 먼저 고개 숙여 죄송하다는 말을 전하고 싶다"며 "약 한 달여간 집에 있으면서 저 자신에 대해 반성과 자숙의 시간을 보내고 있다"고 밝혔다.
이어 "앞으로도 지금의 마음가짐으로 하루하루 지내겠다"며 "공인으로서 책임있는 행동을 했어야 하는데 찰나의 그릇된 판단으로 여러분에게 실망을 끼쳐드려 저 자신, 그 누구보다도 가슴이 아프다"고 덧붙였다.
