Actress Park Sun-young, 34, was the latest angelic celebrity bride to walk down the aisle this May.
The TV star tied the knot with a 37-year-old diplomat at Hotel Shilla in central Seoul Saturday.
Their ceremony was officiated by Pastor Lee Jae-hoon of Onnuri Church in Yongsan. The bride’s bouquet was tossed to the friend who had arranged their first date.
Entertainer volunteer group TTasamo or the club of warm-hearted people, comprised of Park’s celebrity friends, congratulated the couple on their union. Those in attendance included Kim Won-hee, Jung Joon-ho, Ahn Jae-wook and Kim Yu-mi.
“I met (the bridegroom) through an arrangement by a friend some seven years ago. He is simple and unassuming and has much to teach me,” Park told reporters in a press conference at 10:30 a.m. two hours before the ceremony at the Emerald Hall on the second floor of the Guest House. “I thought I could marry him at once upon meeting him for the first time, as if one gets to know who is one’s life-long partner.”
She said she immediately accepted, saying “ Yes,” when she was proposed to during a stroll at a park, about three months after they started dating and when he was assigned to an overseas post.
The couple is scheduled to postpone their honeymoon until the summer due to the bridegroom’s tight schedule. The newly-weds will move into their new home in Sajik-dong, Jongno, central Seoul.
The bridegroom, identified only as Kim, is a foreign ministry official who has passed the state test to become a diplomat. He has been assigned to the presidential office for a stint as an interpreter for President Lee Myung-bak.
Park made her TV debut in 1996. She appeared in the popular KBS2 TV drama ``The Sons of Sol Pharmacy House,'' which ended last October.

박선영은 29일 오후 12시 30분 서울 중구 장충동 신라호텔 다이너스티홀에서 한 외교관과 백년가약을 맺었다. 비공개로 진행된 이날 결혼식은 온누리 교회 이재훈 목사가 주례를 맡았다. 부케는 신랑신부를 연결시켜 준 지인이 받았다.
결혼식에는 박선영이 활동하고 있는 연예인 봉사모임 따사모(따뜻한 사람들의 모임) 소속 회원들인 김원희 정준호 안재욱 김유미 등과 손현주 최정윤 유선 김선아 유진 등 친한 동료 연예인들이 참석해 '5월의 신부'를 축하했다.
박선영은 결혼식 전 오전 10시 30분 영빈관 2층 에메랄드홀에서 기자들과 만나 결혼에 대한 소감과 2세 계획 등에 대해 밝혔다. 기자회견에 김씨는 참석하지 않았다. 박선영은 이날 기자회견에서 예비신랑에 대해 "7년 쯤 전에 지인의 소개로 만났고 소탈하고 털털하며 배울 점이 많은 사람"이라며 "자기 짝은 알아본다고 처음 봤을 때 이 사람과 결혼할 것 같다는 생각이 들었다"고 말했다.
프러포즈에 대해서는 "만난 지 3개월쯤 됐을 때 해외 발령으로 근무를 가게 된 신랑이 공원에서 산책하다가 갑자기 결혼하자고 해서 '그래요'라고 대답했다. 얼마 전에는 무릎을 꿇고 예쁜 화분을 선물하기도 했다"고 밝혔다.
한편 신혼여행은 예비 신랑의 일정으로 인해 올 여름에 갈 예정이며 신접살림은 서울 종로구 사직동에 차린다.
이 커플은 2003년 지인의 소개로 만나 7년간 사귀어왔다.
신랑 김씨는 청와대에서 이명박 대통령의 통역관으로 근무 중인 외교통상부 소속 공무원으로 알려져 있다.
박씨는 1996년 TV 드라마에 데뷰, 지난 10월 종영된 KBS2 인기 드라마 “솔약국집 아들들”에 출연했다.
