Kaiane Aldorino, 23, from Gibraltar was crowned the Miss World and Europe’s Beauty Queen at the 59th Miss World pageant in Johannesburg Saturday evening.
Gibraltar is the British colony on the coast north off the Gibraltar Strait, and southwestern Iberian peninsula, with a population of 30,000 on the land of 5.8 square kilometers. She worked at the personnel department at St. Bernard Hospital til being selected Miss Gibraltar for this year.
First runner-up was Miss Mexico, Perla Beltran Acosta and the third went to Tatum Keshwar of the host country of the beauty pageant.
Meanwhile, Miss Korea Kim Joo-ri, 21, was spotlighted as she was chosen as the Beauty Queen in Asia and Oceania. The 173-centimeter-tall beauty joined the top 16 along with Miss Japan and Miss Vietnam, but failed to advance to the competition of seven finalists.
인구3만 식민지, 미스월드 배출
미스지브롤터 케이앤 알도리노(23·174㎝)가 2009 미스월드가 됐다.대회사상 최다인 112명이 참가한 가운데 12일 밤 남아프리카공화국 요하네스버그에서 열린 제59회 미스월드선발대회에서 1위 겸 유럽 뷰티 퀸으로 뽑혔다.
지브롤터는 이베리아 반도 서남쪽 지브롤터 해협의 북쪽 해안에 있는 영국 식민지다. 면적 5.8㎢ 인구 3만명에 불과하다. 알도리노는 올해 미스지브롤터 선발대회에서 우승하기 전까지 현지 성버나드병원 인사과에서 일했다.
2위는 펠라 벨트란 아코스타 미스멕시코에게, 3위는 개최국인 미스남아공의 타툼 케쉬와르에게 돌아갔다.
한편, 미스코리아 김주리(21·173㎝)는 이날 아시아·오세아니아 뷰티 퀸으로 선정되며 주목받았다. 미스 재팬·베트남 등과 함께 톱16에 올랐으나 7명이 겨루는 결승에는 들지 못했다 |
