Christmas and year's end are perfect times for family gatherings or great dates. Some people squeeze time for romantic getaways overseas with their beloved ones. Hotels.com, an online hotel booker, has selected some of the most luxurious hotels.

Breakfast in New York

If you fancy a luxurious breakfast at a high-end restaurant in downtown New York, Norma's of Le Parker Meridien is a suitable place.

Famous for its unparalleled breakfast and brunch menu, the restaurant offers the $1,000 ``Zillion Dollar Frittata Breakfast'' with six eggs, the tail of a baked lobster and a helping of caviar.

The rich yet fresh dish brings an exotic but comfortable feeling to the mouth, the booker said.

Hamburger in Vegas

No one would say price is all that matters in choosing a dish, but the foie gras and black truffle-topped Kobe beef burger at Fleur de Lys in the five-star Mandalay Bay hotel in Las Vegas priced at $4,722 will bring more than smile when paying the bill, the booker said.

The deep flavor of black truffle goes well with rich flavor of the foie gras marking a rare kind of taste that leaves well-harmonized flavors, Hotels.com said.

King's Meal at Moscow

The five-star Ritz Carlton hotel in Moscow offers $1,466 ``Tsar's Breakfast'' consisted of foie gras, caviar and Noble vodka. The restaurant also gains credit for its star chef, Heinz Winkler who has received Michelin stars.

The rich and deep flavor of foie gras brings a whole new degree of palette to the vodka, the hotel promoter said. ``Leave it to the tongue to feel it,'' it said.

At the Kempinski Grand Hotel des Bains in St. Moritz, Switzerland, the ``Top of the World'' dinner menu consisting of seven courses is provided to those seeking winter leisure and romance. Diners can enjoy the luxury of their very own sommelier.

Imagine the snow, and the warmth that makes a sharp contrast to freezing cold outside, the hotel promoter said.

Expensive Liquors for Christmas

It's not just food that has no limits when it comes to luxury, those who enjoy relaxing with an evening cocktail can splash out too. The ``27,321'' cocktail at the Burj al Arab hotel in Dubai holds the record for the most expensive one in the world at an impressive $6,877.

A Martini on the rocks at the Algonquin Hotel in New York will add an extra $9,473 to your bill, complete with a diamond at the bottom of your glass.

Peter Yoshihara, Marketing Manager of Hotels.com in Korea, said, ``Those restaurants and bars recommended by Hotels.com offer not only the most expensive menus but also a variety of selections tailoring to travelers' taste and budget.'' He added, ``As cuisine is becoming a great contributor to the joy of travel, it comes important for travelers to set count on dining and bar selections when navigating through hotels.''
