Sympathy for Lady Vengeance directed and produced by Park Chan-Wook in 2005 has been listed in the 100 best films for the decade by The Times published in Britain. This is the only Korean film ranked at the 97th on the top 100.
The British daily has drawn up the list with those selected among the movies screened during the 21st century (2000-2009).
The newspaper explained the film: The third of Park Chan-wook’s fervid, savage revenge trilogy, Lady Vengeance ends with a somber acknowledgement of the futility of revenge. But not before buckets of blood have been spilt. Actress Lee Young-ae, 38, who has recently been spotlighted by her marriage with a Korean-American businessman last August, starred the lady.
The 98th placer is “Crash”(2004) directed by Paul Haggis, followed by “Battle Royale” (2000). The Devil Wears Prada directed by David Frankel in 2006 ranked the 100th and last of the list.
On the other hand, the top post has been taken by “Hidden” produced Michael Heneke in 2005.
The second place has been shared by The Bourne Supremacy/The Bourne Ultimatum directed by Paul Greengrass in 2004 and 2007, respectively.
No Country for Old Men by Joel Coen a! nd Than Coen in 2007 has taken the third place and Slumdog Millionaire by Danny Boyle in 2008 came sixth.
The other major movies on the list are eighth placer Casino Royale by Martin Campbell in 2008, the Lives of Others(12th) by Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck in 2006, 4 Months, 3 Weeks & 2 Days (14th) by Cristian Mungiu in 2007 and Minority Report (26th) by Steven Spielberg.

Let's be honest: not a great decade for movies. Think about the 70s...The Godfather, Star Wars, Raging Bull, Taxi Driver, Chinatown...
