South Korean beauty Seo Eun-mi won the first runner-up title of the Miss International 2009 held in Chengdu, southwest China's Sichuan Province, Saturday.
Seo, 22, captured the second highest title in the beauty pageant at the Sichuan International Tennis Center out of 66 contestants amid cheers of more than 2,000 spectators. She also took the photogenic title by appearing attired in ``hanbok'' in the traditional costume competition.
Mexican beauty Anagabriela Espinoza, 21, won the Miss International 2009 title and Miss United Kingdom Chloe-Beth Morgan became the second runner-up.
Seo, standing 174 centimeters and weighing 54 kilograms, specializes in Korean paintings at Yeungnam University in Gyeongsan, North Gyeongsang Province.
In an interview after winning the prize, she said, ``I'm really happy to get an award at one of the world's three top beauty contests. I'd like to convey my messages of courage and hope to residents in Sichuan Province who suffered disastrous earthquakes last year.''

2009 미스 코리아 선 서은미 (22)가 토요일 중국 스촨성 청두에서 열린 2009년 미스인터내셔널 대회에서 2위에 입상했다.
서은미는 이날 청두 국제 테니스 중심 실내체육관에서 2,000명 이상의 관중이 지켜보는 가운데 열린 미스인터내셔널 대회에서 66개국 후보들 가운데 준우승을 차지했다. 전통의상 부문 경연에서 현대화된 흰색 한복을 입고 등장한 그녀는 포토제닉상까지 수상하는 영예를 안았다.
멕시코의 안나가브리엘라 에스피노자 (21)가 1위의 영광을 차지했으며, 3위는 영국의 콜 베스 모건 (23)에게 돌아갔다.
키 174cm, 몸무게 54kg의 몸매를 자랑하는 서은미는 영남대 한국회화과 3학년에 재학 중이다. 서은미는 수상소감을 묻는 질문에 "세계 3대 미인대회인 미스인터내셔널에서 입상하게 돼 너무 기쁘다"며 "지난해 5월 큰 지진으로 피해를 입은 스촨성 주민들에게 한국을 대표하는 우정의 사절로서 용기와 희망의 메시지를 전하고 싶다"고 말했다. |
