The director and star of the anticipated blockbuster ``Transformers'' will hold a press junket in N Seoul Tower tonight, before its world premier across Korean theaters on June 28.

It is the first time a Hollywood film is having its opening event in Korea.

Iconic director Michael Bay (``Armageddon,'' ``The Rock'') and up-and-coming actress Megan Fox, the heroine of the film, will be talking to journalists and fans alongside the actual model of the film's ``character'' Autobot Bumblebee, towering 5.2 meters and weighing 3.7 tons.

As the junket is the film's first official red carpet event, some 50 international media personnel will visit the capital. Asia premiers are usually hosted in Hong Kong or Tokyo, so this Seoul event marks the country's growing international significance in the cinematic world.

Produced by film master Steven Spielberg, ``Transformers'' is about two dueling alien races, the Autobots and the Decepticons, that bring their battle to Earth. The future of mankind remains hanging in the balance as the robotic creatures -- hidden in the form of cars and motorbikes -- ``transform'' to reveal their superpowers.

The science-fiction story is also a popular American comic book by Marvel Comics and an animated series by Sunbow Productions. Fans worldwide thus enthusiastically wait to see ``Transformers'' onscreen.

The film will be released in the United States on July 4.
