BoA, South Korea's top pop singer, teamed up with Sean Garrett, the American singer, songwriter and record producer, to perform ``I Did It For Love,'' the hit single from her U.S. debut album, during the MTV Video Music Awards Japan 2009 (VMAJ 2009) held at the Saitama Super Arena in Japan Saturday.

The duo received a warm response from the crowd at the eighth annual award show.

Big Bang, a South Korean pop idol group that plans to make its debut in Japan with its new single ``My Heaven,'' also performed at VMAJ 2009.

Yonhap News said BoA and Big Bang received plenty of attention at the red-carpet ceremonies before the show.

The big winner of the night was the group EXILE, picking up a total of three awards for the second straight year.

EXILE again won the title of Best Video of the Year, this time with "Ti Amo (Chapter 2)." The same video earned them honors for Best Group Video. EXILE completed the triple with the Best Choreography Award.
