Bukchon in northern Seoul is the place to go should you crave a feast of art in surroundings reminiscent of traditional Korea. Even more so this month, as the contemporary art hub is the stage for an art festival, Platform Seoul, which runs through Nov.4.

The new festival is organized by SAMUSO: Space for Contemporary Art, and collaborates with local galleries in the area to bring art closer to the public, while merging the traditional with the contemporary. Art-goers will be able to stroll around the picturesque area, with its beautiful classic touch, as they move from one exhibition to another.

Twenty galleries and art museums are showcasing the work of both Korean and international artists this year. Organizers plan to make the festival an annual event, and spread the wave of art to commercial areas such as restaurants and cafes in the future.
