British electronica duo Underworld will hold its first-ever concert in Seoul next month. The concert will be held at Korea University Hwajung Gymnasium on Nov. 17.
Underworld is often named as one of the top electronica acts in the world, along with the Chemical Brothers, who rocked the Incheon Pentaport Rock Festival last July.
Underworld is best known for ``Born Slippy.NUXX,'' which became extremely popular in the club scene after being featured in the 1996 film ``Trainspotting.'' The song catapulted Underworld to the forefront of the international music scene, and gained widespread acclaim for their unique sound.
Underworld started its world tour in the United States last September, and currently is touring Europe. According to its homepage (www.underworldlive.com), tickets for most concerts have been sold out.
The group is promoting their fifth album ``Oblivion with Bells,'' their first in five years, during the world tour. Their first single ``Crocodile'' was released last month.
Originally formed by Kyle Hyde and Rick Smith in 1984, Underworld has undergone several changes in its line-up. Various DJs, including Darren Emerson, joined and left the group throughout the years.
Aside from music, Underworld is also involved with the world-renowned design group Tomato. All the band's music videos, which have been praised for its technologically sophisticated style, have been created by Tomato.
According to organizers, Underworld is expected to bring in more than 15 technicians and equipment that weighs close to three tons, for their concert in Korea. Underworld, known for their cutting-edge and stylish music videos, is expected to show video art on their backdrop during their concert.
After their concert in Seoul, Underworld will hold concerts in Osaka and Tokyo.
