Plant Cafe & Kitchen is a pioneer in Seoul's burgeoning vegan dining scene. Founder Mipa Lee launched her business in central Seoul's Itaewon before opening a second location in Hongdae's popular Yeonnam-dong. Plant is on a mission to make the plant-based lifestyle simple and tasty, maintaining a steadfast dedication to producing 100 percent plant-based food with an innovative menu packed full of vegan delights.
Visitors are welcomed to Plant with a friendly staff and relaxing atmosphere. The comfy, greenery-infused interior produces a tranquil, calming ambience. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful about making selections from their menu.
There is something for everyone on the menu. Every item is crafted to satisfy the palette and the conscience, from tempting appetizers like loaded chili cheese fries or moussaka, a hot chunky eggplant cooked in tomato sauce with tofu feta crumbles and cilantro, to robust main courses like the scrumptious mushroom burger. Plant's chefs have mastered the art of fusing local, fresh ingredients to make delectable, innovative plant-based cuisine.
The teriyaki stir fry is a flavorful blend of soy veggie slices stir-fried together with broccoli, red bell peppers, carrots and garlic and dressed in a flavorful teriyaki sauce. The presentation is art on a platter, and the flavors blend harmoniously. Plant also has a lineup of delicious desserts, all baked in-house. The decadent cookies, cakes and pudding demonstrate that plant-based sweets compete with traditional options in terms of flavor and texture.
As a side note, and pro tip, Plant's beverage lineup is not to be missed. Its freshly squeezed juices, coffees and smoothies are not only aesthetically pleasing but also nutrient-dense and ridiculously tasty. The Razzle Berry Smoothie, made with raspberries, strawberries, banana, coconut milk, lemon juice and topped with almond flakes is especially outstanding.
In addition to serving outstanding food, Plant also practices sustainability. They place a high value on using eco-friendly packaging materials and locally produced foods to minimize the environmental impact. This commitment to sustainability fits in so well with their overall attitude that it enhances the dining experience.
Get ready for a gastronomic adventure that will upend whatever preconceptions you may have about plant-based food and leave you hankering for more. Plant Cafe & Kitchen delivers, whether you are a devout vegan or just someone who enjoys delicious food.
