Mom's Touch will open its first chicken burger shop in the United States in October as part of efforts to find new sources of income outside Korea, the company CEO said Tuesday.

Mom's Touch CEO Chung Hyun-sik told reporters that the home-grown franchise will set up more stores in Taiwan and Vietnam, as well as open its first store in Indonesia and other Southeast Asian countries this year.

"We are preparing to open our first burger shop in Los Angeles in October. We are very positive that American consumers will appreciate our burgers," Chung said. "We use only high-quality, fresh ingredients and prepare burgers through our after-order cooking system. These are the key to making our burgers tastier."

Mom's Touch, which opened two stores in Taiwan and one in Vietnam last year, will add more outlets in these countries according to the CEO, who said it will also make inroads into other Asian countries.

"With the domestic market nearing its saturation point, we will continue to bolster our presence abroad by finding reliable business partners," Chung said. "We will also open more stores here at home to emerge as Korea's top burger franchise in both sales and operating profits, outpacing McDonald's, Burger King and Lotteria."

Last December, Mom's Touch, which opened its first store in Seoul in 1997, set up its 1,000th store in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province. The CEO took the company public on the tech-heavy KOSDAQ last October.

Chung projected his company's 2016 sales will reach 200 billion won, up from 150 billion won in 2015. Mom's Touch plans to increase its sales to 500 billion won by 2021.
