Mother tries to eat her baby

A mother tried to eat her baby a few days after he was born, The Mirror reports.

Nurses at a hospital in China's southern city of Shenzhen found Li Zhenghua, 24, trying to eat her baby's arms three days after the birth.

"It was really shocking _ the arm was bruised and bleeding heavily," a hospital spokesperson.

Doctors had to sedate the woman so she would let go of the child, which was moved to a secure location.

Police learned that Li's mother-in-law had thrown the pregnant woman out because she was acting strangely. Li had been living on the streets for at least several weeks before she was found in labor, and then taken to hospital.

Police are investigating whether the baby should be taken into foster care.

중국의 한 엄마가 아이가 태어난 지 며칠 만에 아이를 잡아먹으려고 한 사건이 드러나 충격을 주고 있다.

중국 남쪽에 위치한 도시 션전의 한 병원에서 산모 리정화(24)는 아들을 출생한 지 3일 만에 아이의 팔을 물어뜯는 등 아이를 잡아먹으려고 해 병원 관계자에 의해 겨우 제지당했다.

아이의 팔은 심하게 멍이 들어 있고 피가 나는 걸로 보아 피해 상태는 심각한 것으로 전해진다.

병원 측은 아이를 안전한 곳으로 이동했으나 아이를 산모에게 돌려 줄 지에 대한 결정을 심사숙고하고 있는 것으로 보인다.

경찰 조사 결과 리 씨는 이상한 행동으로 임산부임에도 불구하고 집에서 쫓겨나갔으며, 길거리에서 산통을 겪다 병원으로 후송돼 아이를 출산한 것으로 알려졌다.
