There has been a huge amount of international attention on the 2018 Asian Games and South Korea's attempts to win soccer gold and the focus reached a height on Saturday. That is all because of Son Heung-min. Fortunately, the 26 year-old is now exempt from military service thanks to events in Indonesia.
이번 아시안게임에는 엄청난 국제적인 관심이 쏠렸고 대한민국 축구대표팀의 금메달을 따기 위해 노력과 집중력은 결승전이 열린 토요일 정점에 달했다. 이 모든 게 손흥민 때문이었다. 다행히, 인도네시아에서 열린 이번 아시안게임 덕분에 26살의 그는 병역의무로부터 해방되었다.
South Korea defeated Japan 2-1 in the 2018 Asian Games gold medal match and won much more besides. Late goals from Lee Seung-woo and Hwang Heechan not only gave the young Taegeuk Warriors center spot on the podium in Indonesia but gave 20 players exemption from 21 months of national duty.
대한민국은 2018아시안게임 금메달 결정전에서 일본을 2-1로 꺾었고 경기내용은 그 이상이었다. 이승우와 황희찬의 연장전 득점은 어린 태극 전사들을 단상 가운데에 위치하게 해준 것뿐만이 아니라 20명의 선수들을 21개월의 병역의무에서 해방시켜주었다.
Because of Son, there was serious media attention about the soccer future of the Korean team. The 26-year-old will be able to stay with English Premier League giant Tottenham Hotspur until the end of the current contract in 2023 and he will not have to return to Korea for national duty.
손흥민 덕분에 한국대표팀의 미래인 이 어린 선수들에게 엄청난 언론의 관심이 쏟아졌다. 26살의 손흥민은 현재 2023년까지 계약된 영국 프리미어리그의 강호 토트넘 핫스퍼에서 그의 커리어를 이어나갈 수 있게 되었고 군 문제로 한국에 돌아올 의무가 없어지게 되었다.
The result was satisfactory but the game was, however, far from easy.
결과는 만족스러웠으나 경기는 그리 쉽지만은 않았다.
On Saturday at the final of the Asian Games, it was very tense. At the end of 90 minutes, Korea had been on top but was unable to break the deadlock against the Samurai Blue. Then it all changed in the first period of extra time. Three minutes in extra time Lee Seung-woo, the former Barcelona forward who has improved as the tournament has progressed, put Korea ahead.
아시안 게임 결승이 열린 지난 토요일, 경기는 매우 치열했다. 90분이 끝날 무렵, 한국은 일본을 상대로 경기를 압도했지만, 교착상태를 타개하지 못했다.
Soon after that Hwang Hee-chan extended Korea's lead and that seemed to be that. With five minutes left however, Japan pulled a goal back thanks to Ayase Ueda to ensure that there were plenty of nerves.
머지않아 황희찬이 한국의 결승 골을 넣으며 경기는 그렇게 끝나는 것처럼 보였다. 경기종료 5분 전, 아야세 우에다 덕분에 일본은 한 골을 따라잡으며 끝까지 긴장을 놓을 수 없게 만들었다.
Regardless, Korea hung on for the win and all the benefits that came with it.
그에 상관없이 한국이 승리를 꽉 붙잡으며 모든 혜택이 승리와 함께 따라왔다.
