During the three-day forum, which starts today, participants will discuss issues related to the two countries such as business branding, culture technology, civil engineering and education.
The Korea Foundation (KF) and Spain's Casa Asia are co-hosting the forum, which about 50 delegates from the two countries will attend.
KF president Yu Hyun-seok, former Korean ambassador to Spain Oh Dae-sung, Hankook University of Foreign Studies professor Park Chul and Korea Times president Park Moo-jong will take part.
Spanish participants will include Vice Foreign Minister Carlos Espinosa de los Monteros, President of the University of Malaga Adelaida de la Calle and President of the University of Sevilla Antonio Ramírez de Arellano.
The forum is the ninth of its kind.
"Delegates had studied the two countries' general social and economic issues until its sixth forum," KF senior program officer Kim Jee-on told The Korea Times. "But this year the topic has been narrowed down to specific issues like IT and Smart City. We will share our knowledge about IT technologies and learn from Spain's city-branding technologies."
The Korea-Spain Forum began in 2003 to promote the countries' bilateral ties by sharing values and ideas. The previous forum was in the Spanish coastal city of Malaga last November. Delegates looked for ways to improve relations by securing "sustainable development in economy, innovation, technology education, culture and tourism," the KF said in a statement.
