Some 130 professors and researchers from leading universities in Southeast Asia including Vice Chancellor Mohd Amin Jalaludin of Malaya University and Rector Vo Van Sen of Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City University of Social Sciences and Humanities will participate in the conference.
Also, Korean counterparts, including Professor Mo Kyung-hwan of Seoul National University and Professor Moon Si-yeon of Sookmyung Women's University are expected to discuss topics such as Korean Studies education, linguistics and language education, political economy and public administration, and culture and humanities. The conference will also serve as an opportunity to offer new directions for the enhancement of Korean studies in Southeast Asia.
KSASA was established in September 2005 with its charter members being the presidents and vice presidents of the leading universities in Southeast Asia.
"Demand for Korean studies among leading universities in Southeast Asia has been expanded rapidly in recent years due to the stepped-up interaction and mutual exchange between Southeast Asia and Korea," said KF President Yu Hyun-seok. "The conference will offer various options to further develop Korean studies in Southeast Asia," he added.
