Twenty-eight Korean university students are expected to visit Japan for 10 days from Nov. 4, said KF public relations planning deputy director Suh soo-yon.
The program, which the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosts, was established after the Fifth Korea-Japan Ministerial Talks in August 1971. Both nations agreed to exchange 20 university students annually, and that was expanded to 30 students after the 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup.
The exchange program is aimed at passionate Japanese-speaking university students dedicated to sharing culture and values with their Japanese counterparts.
Korean students are expected to meet Japanese students, and to visit Japanese governmental organizations, industrial facilities and historic sites. The Japanese government pays air fare and other expenses.
Thirty Japanese students began their 10-day visit to Korea on Wednesday.
They met students at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, and visited Panmunjeom, Changdeok Palace, the Korean Folk Village and the Blue House.
The Korea Foundation is taking applications for the program by mail, by personal visit or by email at culture@mofa.go.kr.
