He will succeed Edward Reed, who joined the foundation in 2004 as the nation’s representative and successfully expanded the scope of the Korean program.
“While we are sad to bid farewell to Reed whose tremendous leadership, commitment, and perseverance have positioned the foundation well for future success in Korea, we are thrilled about Peter Beck’s appointment,” said David D. Arnold, president of the Asia Foundation. “Beck brings extraordinary strengths and experience to expand the foundation’s ongoing engagement of Korean opinion leaders, and we are excited to welcome him back.”
The Asia Foundation is a non-profit, non-governmental organization committed to the development of a peaceful, prosperous and open Asia-Pacific region.
A seasoned Korea specialist and former Asia Foundation Haas intern, Beck will contribute strong research, academic and international development credentials to the position.
A prolific writer and lecturer, Beck has taught at Georgetown University, the Naval Post Graduate School, American University, Yonsei University, and Ewha Womans University.
