Ways to enjoy honeymoon at Bali's largest resort
By Jun Kyoung-woo
A honeymoon is as sweet as honey. It is a trip where you share love with your special other. What you've seen isn't as important as who you're with. Where you've stayed for the most romantic time of your life is the most important as you get only one honeymoon per marriage.
"Where are you going for honeymoon?"
This is the number one question people ask at a wedding to a newlywed couple. I don't know why they're so curious about this but that's what people ask.
The usual answers are the Maldives, Fiji or Cancun. There are seldom couples who have planned a real "trip" to Europe. Sometimes a tightly scheduled trip such as Incheon-Narita-Las Vegas-Los Angeles-Cancun comes as a welcoming choice for those who like to boast on social media.
But these aren't actually correct answers. The real destinations newlyweds end up in are hotels or resorts.

Bali, an island of resorts
The sea off Bali is beautiful but less competitive compared to the Maldives with on-water bungalows or the northern regions of Philippines abundant with coral reefs. To overcome such weakness, the resorts in Bali have established huge swimming pools. The "pool villa" is especially popular.
It would be difficult to vote which resort is the best in Bali due to their great numbers, but "The Mulia, The Mulia Resort and Villas" in the Nusa Dua region of Bali is never left out off a list.

The six-star super luxury resort is intimidating from its size. The resort compound consists of three buildings ― The "Mulia Resort" is equipped with 526 rooms, "The Mulia" with 111 suites and the "Mulia Villas" with 108 private pool villas. It's larger than the combined size of all the five-star hotels in the Jungmoon region on Jeju Island.
If you have decided to go to a luxury resort for your honeymoon, you must switch off your antennas looking for something to do around the facility. Time is too short to eat, swim and love.

If you want to enjoy resort life instead of sightseeing, visiting various restaurants is a must. If you've chosen a private island or a mountain resort, you might have to eat same meals in the same restaurants, but here, the choices are beyond description.
The Mulia has a buffet restaurant, and Chinese, Japanese and Pan-Asian style restaurants.
Breakfast is another important meal. Korean women like to bring special clothes for morning meals to show off that they're distant from their daily lives. To maximize such bravado, order a "crab cake benedict black tie" which is the resort's specialty to look more graceful.

If you don't want to arrive home turned into a pig, swimming is a must.
Mulia has 115 swimming pools, six of which are public and 108 are private pool villas. There's a quite large pool in the spa as well. There are other water-filled areas here and there around the resort. Because of the variety, these pools are never crowded. There are also pools only for children. If you want to jump in the waters anytime you want, it's better to stay at the private pool villa.
At dusk, enjoy a cocktail at the Ocean pool bar. "The Oasis," an infinity pool, offers a surreal view at sunrise.
In front of the resort, there's a calm white sand beach. Because the water level drops at a point about one kilometer away, the waves aren't that strong.

The Baron Suite at The Mulia |
The place couples spend most time in at the resort is the room.
Inside the high-ceiling rooms, there's a king size bed with a thick mattress. The high ceiling doesn't make the stay inside the villa stifling. Air conditioning is also important for tropical regions and if the bed sheets are damp, the atmosphere dampens as well. Here, the sheets are crisp as fries.
There's a super expensive TV inside every room which offers a variety of programs, but any man who shouts hurray must be ready to fly back home alone. Instead of appreciating the greatness of the gadgets, step outside with your loved one and appreciate the artwork exhibited around the resort. It may be worthwhile because it's not something you do back home.
On a honeymoon trip, the entire resort becomes a space for lovers. Hand in hand with your other half, walk on the beautifully decorated path with tropical plants such as frangipani exuding a heavenly scent.
