You Hong-june
By Kim Yon-se
Staff Reporter

Cultural Heritage Administrator You Hong-june tendered his resignation to President Roh Moo-hyun Tuesday to take responsibility for the fire that gutted National Treasure No. 1.

The presidential office confirmed receiving his letter of resignation and it is expected that Roh will accept it Wednesday.

You has been accused of neglecting the security of cultural assets. Moreover, he was on an overseas junket when the arson attack occurred Sunday.

However, presidential spokesman Cheon Ho-seon said it was illogical to link his overseas trip to the fire.
