LG Innotek has developed an automotive lighting module that can emit light in five directions, the electronics components manufacturing affiliate of LG Group said Wednesday.
The newly developed product Nexlide-HD is a flexible light for cars, enabling carmakers to have more options to use flexible designs.
"Nexlide-HD enables the production of unique lighting with various designs such as straight lines, curves, waves and 3D figures. The module can also be cut into thin pieces and combined into blocks to create floral patterns and more," the company said.
The company explained the new product can be applied to tail lights as well as daytime running lights. It can also be used to produce slim lighting and reduce the thickness of car lamps by up to 70 percent.
An LG Innotek official said the company has been seeking contracts with automotive lighting makers in both domestic and overseas markets.
"We have not inked supply contracts yet. The company is seeking contracts with automotive lighting makers here and North America, Europe and Japan," the official said.
