“High school rapper” VINXEN sold out his 500-ticket concert in just 60 seconds, proving his popularity despite a fledgling career on the Korean hip-hop scene.
The star from the second season of TV rap competition show “High School Rapper” on Mnet is holding the all-standing gig “VINXEN Happy Birthday” on April 20 at MUV Hall in the Hongdae entertainment area in Seoul's western Mapo district.
Tickets for the concert went on sale online on April 5 at the Hana Ticket site.
VINXEN, whose name is Lee Byung-jae, was one of five finalists in the Mnet show in 2018. Although ranked third in the final, the 19-year-old from the KIFF CLAN crew generated strong public interest with his gloomy character and verses that, according to the show, “bring one's sanity down to rock bottom.”
The dropout from Incheon Yeonsong High School last year sold out exclusive concerts at YES24 Live Hall and Blue Square. The same year the Romantic Factory agency's star made headlines by releasing the single “
” that features vocalist Kim Jong-wan from rock band Nell.
