A South Korean worker in Nigeria died earlier this week, days after suffering a gunshot from a local security guard, Seoul's foreign ministry said Friday.
The 49-year-old employee at a South Korean firm in the largest Nigerian city of Lagos was seriously wounded when the private security guard shot him Monday (local time).
He died Thursday, while being treated at a local hospital, the ministry said. The suspect was arrested earlier.
The South Korean Embassy in Nigeria has requested police there to conduct a speedy and fair investigation into the case and take measures to prevent the recurrence of a similar case, it added.
The embassy plans to offer all necessary consular support needed for his funeral, keeping close tabs on the probe. (Yonhap)
