Choi Joon-hee, the daughter of late actress Choi Jin-sil, revealed on her YouTube channel Sunday that she is suffering an incurable disease.
She said she was recently hospitalized for two months due to Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE), a chronic autoimmune disease in which the immune system attacks healthy tissues. The symptoms include joint swelling, fatigue and headache.
“I went through a hard time when I was at a hospital,” she said. “A person can go insane with this disease, although it seems nothing at a glance.”
Revealing she was discharged from hospital on Saturday after her condition improved, she also explained why she could not take off her mask.
“I suddenly gained 10 kilograms in one to two weeks. My chin got fat, so I cannot live without a mask,” she said. “Once you get this illness, you cannot even walk because your entire body swells, hence you have to ride in a wheelchair.”
She also revealed she has been dating her boyfriend for 10 months.
Her mother debuted in 1988 and enjoyed popularity in the 1990s. The actress married baseball player Cho Sung-min in 2000 and had a son and a daughter, but divorced in 2004. Although she enjoyed a second heyday in 2008 with the success of MBC drama “Last Scandal,” she committed suicide the same year.
