The daring bright-red outfit Hwasa from K-pop girl band MAMAMOO wore at the 2018 MAMA Fans' Choice in Japan on Wednesday has made her a hot talking point.

The youngest member of the team, 23, popped up in the revealing costume for a solo performance of "Don't" at the Saitama Super Arena. She collaborated with acclaimed rapper Loco on the song that was released in April.

The outfit has prompted a mixed response online.

Some said her bodysuit was cool and praised Hwasa for showing herself off confidently. Others argued it was embarrassing to see the singer wearing such bold fashion.

"We did not expect the outfit to be such a hot-topic issue," the group's agency RBW told Star Today, Thursday. "We chose the outfit that fitted into the song's mood, as usual."

Hwasa, whose name is Ahn Hye-jin, debuted as a sub-vocalist and lead rapper of the four-member MAMAMOO in 2014. She rocketed to stardom after appearing on MBC reality show "I Live Alone" in June thanks to her "unexpected" taste in food and love of it.
