Seoul's Subway Line 9 will open its extended 9.2-kilometer railway on Dec.1, transporting passengers from the city's southeastern tip (Seoul Olympic Park) to the northwestern area (Gimpo International Airport) in only 50 minutes.
This is 30 minutes less than it would take between the park and the airport on the zigzagging Line 5
The extension cost 1.4 trillion won ($1.25 billion) and took nine years to complete.
Line 9's operator is planning another 3.8-kilometer extension by 2027.
