LIG Nex1, the Seoul-based defense company, has unveiled a series of its guided rocket systems in a U.S. tradeshow, seeking to tap deeper into the North American defense industry, the company said Wednesday.
The company has showcased its missile weapons ― such as the 2.75-inch guided rocket and a set of middle-distance precise guided weapons ― in use particularly for infantry troops during the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) 2018 exhibition, according to the firm.
The three-day event, which began in Washington D.C. on Monday (local time), is one of the largest and most influential defense exhibitions in North America. More than 600 defense industry firms take part in the annual show.
During the defense fair, LIG Nex1 also introduced its unmanned surface vehicle for which the company recently finished a pilot operation.
The company underscored its strong willingness to expand its global profile by participating in the event, thereby increasing the portion of its sales in the region by winning more rocket orders there.
The company opened its U.S. office for the first time in 2009 to seek more business opportunities and partnerships with local defense players.
LIG Nex1 believes the exhibition will play a key role in helping the company to participate more actively in the U.S. Department of Defense's Foreign Comparative Testing (FCT) program under which the Pentagon aims to sign more defense contracts with non-American defense firms with state-of-the-art technology and equipment.
"LIG Nex1 has made continued efforts to tap into new markets and expand its exports," LIG Nex1 CEO Kim Ji-chan said. "We want our participation in the exhibition to raise the standing of the nation's defense industry."
