Typhoon Jongdari is heading toward the Korean Peninsula.
It developed 110 kilometers northwest of Guam around 3 a.m. Wednesday and is moving northwest at a speed of 14 kilometers per hour, the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) said.
Jongdari is classified as "small" and "weak," but there are "many elements" influencing it, KMA officials said.
The tropical storm is expected to advance to 160 kilometers southeast of Tokyo by 3 a.m. July 29 and 350 kilometers east of South Korea's easternmost island of Dokdo by 3 a.m. July 30.
"The typhoon is expected to perish in the East Sea with little impact on the peninsula," a KMA official said. "At this stage, however, there are few things we can say for sure."
