A man who killed his parents on Wednesday claimed he committed the brutal crime to follow a “devil's order,” police said Thursday.
The man, 30, believed to have a mental problem, stabbed his parents to death at his apartment in Wonmi-gu, Bucheon, west of Seoul, about 10 a.m., police said. He fled and they caught him at a studio in Ilsan, north of Seoul, four hours later.
During questioning, he admitted the crime but repeatedly claimed the “devil had ordered” him to kill his parents, investigators said.
Police said relatives told them the man had suffered from mental illness. They plan to look into his medical records and interview his primary doctor to determine his mental health.
