Old habits die hard? Here is a case proving the famous adage.
Police are seeking a warrant to arrest a man in his 50s with a history of 69 convictions. The man, surnamed Hwang, 52, was accused on Wednesday of destroying a restaurant in Gwangju while drunk. If found guilty, he will notch up his 70th conviction.
The alleged incident happened seven months after he was freed from a five-month jail term in November, imposed for unlawful interruption of public duties. It was his 16th prison term.
After release, police investigated him twice ― in April and May ― over minor alcohol-driven violence but he avoided prosecution.
Police said he is notorious in the city's entertainment districts for habitual drunken violence.
