Gangnam-gu office will conduct a free English education program with "Sasaro," a non-profit educational service organization, to improve the English speaking ability of foreigners in Korea.
The joint program with Sasaro and the Yeoksam Global Village Center, aims to improve multilingual ability and strengthen personal competitiveness of non-English speaking foreigners.
Sasaro will provide textbooks and offer English programs while the Yeoksam Global Village Center will provide support for educational facilities at the center and promote and link foreigners with the right programs.
"I am glad that I have an opportunity to teach English to foreigners who may encounter difficulties living in Korea," said Kim Seolye, the CEO of Sasaro.
"A lot of foreigners are from non-English speaking countries and need help learning English. It is a great honor if students can be more competitive in society by taking this program," said Shulepova Anna, the head of the Yeoksam Global Village Center.
The Yeoksam Global Village Center, operated by Seoul and Gangnam-gu, provides counseling on public services, legal and real estate information, and offers educational programs including Korean classes, cultural experience and volunteer programs to help foreigners adapt to the Korean environment.
Sasaro was established in 2017 as a nonprofit educational organization and has been providing equal education opportunities for young people, multicultural families and refugees. Currently, it provides free foreign language education programs in Gangnam-gu, Dongjak-gu, Mapo-gu, Seongbuk-gu, Jung-gu and Geumcheon-gu.
Any student or volunteer who wishes to take part in the program can visit the Yeoksam Global Village Center or apply through the Sasaro website (www.sasaro.org).
