The state weather agency issued a fine dust warning in Gwangju, Jeju Island and other southern parts of the country on Sunday as toxic yellow dust blew in from China.

A pro baseball game in Gwangju was canceled.

The fine dust index also plunged to "bad" or '"seriously bad" in other areas.

The Korea Meteorological Administration issued the warning in Gwangju at noon and South Jeolla Province at 1 p.m. as fine dust density per cubic meter surpassed 300 micrograms for two hours. The warning was in place as of 4 p.m.

It was the first warning for Gwangju and South Jeolla province this year.
