Workers at Korean Air are preparing to hold a demonstration against the company's owners, according to sources, Monday.
Over 850 of them have joined an anonymous chat room, visited by 1,000 people, to discuss ways to protest against Chairman Cho Yang-ho and his family.
The employees are exchanging opinions on slogans to chant and songs to sing during a street protest.
They are also discussing what clothes and masks to wear to maintain anonymity.
Workers are recommending one another wear caps, masks and sunglasses to hide their faces, to protect themselves from any retaliation by the company owners.
“We are expecting a backlash from the company. We will confirm the time and place after we notify our plan to the police,” the chat room manager said.
The manager added the workers are considering rally venues, noting Gwanghwamun Plaza in central Seoul was the strongest candidate.
Many are suggesting throwing nuts and water as a performance to satirize the so-called “heiress rage” by siblings Cho Hyun-ah and Cho Hyun-min.
Cho Hyun-ah, Hyun-min's older sister, was indicted for violating the Aviation Security Law in 2014 when she ordered a plane to go back to a gate in New York after she became upset by the way her nuts were served on the plane _ in a packet instead of on a plate.
Cho Hyun-min is currently under police investigation for yelling and throwing water at an advertising agency executive during a business meeting.
As controversy grew and anti-Korean Air sentiment escalated, the chairman decided to remove his two daughters from their executive positions.
The airline's unions are supporting the rally. But the workers are refusing outside help.
“We do not want people to doubt our sincerity in the protest. We will carry out the rally on our own,” the manager said.
