The National Policy Agency's special investigation team has searched its local police agencies in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province to search for evidence following allegations they were involved in rigging online comments in support of former President Lee Myung-bak's administration.

The special team, consisting of 20 investigators, arrived at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency and Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency on Tuesday.

The team has taken equipment including the local agencies' computers and hard drives.

The police agencies allegedly posted comments on the internet supporting the Lee government's policies from 2011 to 2012.

The investigation team also seized equipment from police agencies in Busan and Gwangju.

The national agency said it will analyze the equipment seized and question anyone related to the case.
