Seoul had its first snow of the season on Monday afternoon.

Snow is expected in parts of northern Gyeonggi Province and northwestern Gangwon Province, possibly freezing roads there, according to the Korean Meteorological Agency.

The weather watchdog forecast that Seoul would have about one centimeter of snow, which should not affect the roads in the city, where the maximum temperature was 4 degrees Celsius.

Snow fell on Seoul last Friday but the fall was not “official” because it did not fall near the KMA's climate observatory in downtown Jongno-gu.

Last year, Seoul’s first snowfall ― about one centimeter ― was on Nov. 26. The maximum temperature was 3 degrees Celsius.
