The Japanese government will add Korean and other languages used in evacuation alerts.

According to the Yomiuri Shimbun, Japan has given warnings of a natural disasters in six languages - Japanese, Korean, English, Chinese, Portuguese and Spanish. However, evacuation information, such as shelter locations, has been given only in Japanese.

The Korean evacuation alert will be activated in the event of an earthquake, tsunami, volcanic eruption or other natural disasters, sending text and voice messages to cellphones, TV stations and major websites.

The Japanese government will also publish a disaster response manual in Korean and other languages this year.

The government is also considering installing electronic message boards in major tourist districts.
