Andaz Seoul Gangnam has achieved the five-star rating in a hotel rating review conducted recently by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization. The rating is the highest one given by the two.
The five-star rating is given to hotels that have earned more than 900 points out of 1,000, including 700 points for on-site evaluation and 300 points awarded by a mystery shopper.
Andaz Seoul Gangnam received high praise for hygiene and cleanliness, its front desk, rooms, food and beverages and event hall, according to the hotel.
The hotel held a sign hanging ceremony, July 17, to celebrate its achievement.
Andaz Seoul Gangnam opened on Sept. 6 last year and is a luxury lifestyle brand of Hyatt, with 17 floors above ground.
The hotel, connected to Apgujeong Station, has 241 rooms with a combination of traditional Korean aesthetics and modern sensibilities, in addition to a restaurant with five different concepts, a wellness space called The Summer House and a variety of customized event spaces called Beyond the Glass.
Also, various local restaurants and cafes in an arcade on the first basement floor of the hotel have received positive reviews as a good example of win-win as the floating population in the hotel and Apgujeong area has increased significantly.
"This is the moment that the efforts of Andaz Seoul Gangnam have achieved high-quality hotel facilities and stable and high-quality services in a short period since its opening in September 2019, have been recognized," said Juan Mercadante, general manager of Andaz Seoul Gangnam.
"We will make every effort to promote the Andaz brand, which debuted in Korea through achieving an official five-star rating."
