Oh, 70, will be appointed to his position at a general meeting that will be held June 24.
He is currently the president of the Global Finance Society, and previously served as the deputy chief of Standard Chartered Bank Korea and an outside director of KB Kookmin Bank.
Oh devised President Moon Jae-in's finance policies during his election campaign.
After obtaining a bachelor's and master's degree in management from Seoul National University, he received a doctor's degree in management from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
He taught at Oklahoma State University and Drexel University in the U.S.
The Korea Blockchain Association sought to appoint a new leader after Chin Dae-je stated his wish to step down from the position at a general meeting in March.
Oh will serve as the second president of the association, since it its launch in March 2018, for a three-year term.
The association seeks to establish regulations on blockchain technology and the blockchain-based cryptocurrency industry.
Members of the association include cryptocurrency exchanges, related businesses and public institutions.
The association has come under criticism for failing to represent the interests of cryptocurrency exchanges, after the government introduced a real-name trading policy which has quelled investors' interests in the market.
