Le Sserafim mesmerizes 5,200 fans in Jamsil
By Dong Sun-hwa
From "Fearless" (2022) to "Antifragile" (2022) to "Unforgiven" (2023), the titles of the songs by K-pop girl group Le Sserafim hint at the values that the quintet upholds: confidence, independence and self-determination. During its concert at Jamsil Indoor Stadium in eastern Seoul, Sunday, Le Sserafim again brought these themes to the fore, commanding the stage with the tunes that best deliver them.
"As we have said in our songs, we have been following our inner voices to do the things that we truly want to do," member Huh Yun-jin said in front of some 5,200 fans.
Sunday's extravaganza was part of Le Sserafim's first-ever solo tour titled, "Flame Rises," which consisted of four sections: "Embers," "Ignite," "Flame" and "Rises."
"I think that's how we have come this far. Honestly, I am quite a timid person, but after becoming a part of Le Sserafim, I learned that fear is not my enemy. It is something that we can overcome together," Huh added.

Opening the concert with "The World Is My Oyster" (2022) and "Fearless," the five members ― Kim Chae-won, Kazuha, Sakura, Hong Eun-chae and Huh Yun-jin ― performed some of their most popular songs and fan favorites, including "Impurities" (2023) and "Eve, Psyche & The Bluebeard's Wife" (2023). One of the gems was their rendition of "The Great Mermaid" (2022) which featured some 20 backup dancers. Le Sserafim members sang and danced on a mock-up of a huge ocean rock against the backdrop of lapping waves, reminding the audience of mystical mermaids in a fairy tale.
The group brought a rock vibe with "No Celestial" (2022) while emitting a refreshing charm for "Blue Flame" (2022). Huh and Kim revealed their vocal bravura when they belted out "We Got So Much" ― a tune to be released in the coming days.
"This track is our surprise gift for you," Kim told her fans with a radiant smile.
Huh elaborated, "As its title suggests, we tried to express our gratitude to our followers, who have been giving us so much love. I hope it touches their hearts."

Given that Le Sserafim is a rookie group that arrived on the music scene last year, it only had 17 songs on its set list ― a relatively small number compared to more experienced K-pop acts. Nonetheless, the spectators of the "Flame Rises" concert could still enjoy it to the fullest as they were able to closely interact with their stars and build rapport during talk sessions.
The five members also tried to engage their fans as much as possible, crafting an easy-to-follow dance for the song "Good Parts (when the quality is bad but I am)" (2022).

"Words cannot describe how happy I am right now," Eunchae said. "We will soon embark on our solo tour, but please wait for us."
Kim added, "Sometimes, it was physically strenuous to prepare for our concert because it required much time and energy. But as soon as I heard your scream, all my hard feelings just disappeared. You are the reason for my happiness."
Le Sserafim will continue its tour in seven cities across the globe, including Nagoya, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Bangkok.
