Victoria Song, the Chinese leader of K-pop girl band, f(x), has ended her contract with the group's agency SM Entertainment.

After local media outlet, the Korea Economic Daily, reported the news Friday, SM confirmed it without revealing details. Before Song, other members, including Krystal, had left the company. But it did not officially announce the group's dissolution.

Song, who comes from Qingdao, China, became known to the public in 2008 after appearing in the music video of boy band SHINee's debut track, "Replay." A year later, she debuted as a member of f(x), which dropped a string of hits including "Danger" (2011) and "Rum Pum Pum Pum" (2013).

Song began forging an acting career in China in 2012, appearing in the Chinese-Taiwanese co-produced TV series "When Love Walked In." But she has hardly been seen on the Korean entertainment scene since 2016, following the release of her Korean-Chinese rom-com, "My New Sassy Girl." But she has been active in China, appearing in many works, including "Find Yourself" (2020), which is available on Netflix.

Song and several other Chinese K-pop stars stirred debate in Korea lately for showing their support for cotton produced in the Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region of China, where the Chinese government is accused of using ethnic Uighur Muslim minorities for forced labor. Song also ended her contract with H&M, a Swedish clothing-retail giant that previously said it would stop using cotton from Xinjiang over human rights concerns. "National interests are above all else," she said.
