K-pop duo TVXQ has topped Japan's Oricon weekly album chart for the eighth time, becoming the first foreign artists to reach the milestone.
TVXQ's 15th anniversary celebration album "XV" sold 155,000 copies during the first week of its release (Oct. 14-20), according to Oricon, Tuesday.
"TVXQ is the only foreign act with the record," Oricon was quoted as saying.
The pair's previous albums that reigned atop the chart include "TOMORROW" (2018) and "FINE COLLECTION ~Begin Again~" (2017).
"XV" has also been dominating the Oricon daily album chart since its release. The EP has 15 cross-genre numbers such as "Guilty," "Jealous" and "Hot Hot Hot."
The album will hit shelves in Korea on Oct 23. The duo ― Yunho and Changmin ― will also embark on the "TOHOSHINKI LIVE TOUR 2019 ~XV~" on Nov. 9 in Fukuoka, Japan.
TVXQ debuted as a quintet ― Yunho, Changmin, Junsu, Yuchun and Jaejoong ― in 2003 and was propelled to stardom with hit songs including "Rising Sun" (2005) and "MIROTIC" (2008). In 2010, Junsu, Yuchun and Jaejoong left the band following a legal dispute with SM.
