Actor Song Joong-ki's agency has released a statement following news that he is divorcing actress Song Hye-kyo, whom he starred with in the hit drama "Descendants of the Sun" in 2016 and married in 2017.

Here is a translated version of the Blossom Entertainment statement:

[Official statement from Blossom Entertainment]

Hi, we are Blossom Entertainment and this is our official statement regarding the divorce of actor Song Joong-ki.

Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo decided to end their marriage following careful consideration. After reaching an amicable settlement, they are currently going through divorce proceedings.

We sincerely apologize for delivering such news to those who have celebrated and supported the pair's marriage.

But since it is a matter of the actor's privacy, please refrain from making groundless speculation and spreading false information concerning the divorce.

We are sorry again for delivering unfortunate news.
