YG Entertainment opened an exclusive hologram theater dedicated to its K-pop artists at Everland, the nation's leading theme park in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, on July 20.

The opening ceremony of K-Pop Hologram: YG at Everland was held in association with Korea Creative Content Agency and KT.

Before the launch of the theater, YG whose artists include world-renowned top stars such as Psy, Big Bang and 2NE1 established Next Interactive K Limited (NIK), a joint venture to develop a new platform project based on hologram-based contents. NIK will produce the holographic performances of both local and international artists and distribute the contents globally to various venues such as theme parks.

The theater with 383.47 square meters is located in Global Fair at the park and can accommodate some 100 viewers with 30-minute running time.

The Everland currently showcases the holographic performances of Psy's "Gangnam Style" and "Gentleman" and will add more holographic shows from Big Bang and 2NE1 in September.

The theater enables viewers to enjoy the show as if it is happening in front of the viewers thanks to a media facade technique, in which 3D images of virtual singers are projected close to the audience.

YG said that some 3,000 vistiors have watched the show over the last week during the trial run.

NIK unveiled its holographic images of Psy in World IT Show in COEX on May 23. The company said that it will establish some 20 venues for virtual performances of its K-pop singers in major theme parks or others in China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand and North America and Europe by 2015.
